Living Stones thanks our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and interns for your support of our 2nd Annual Family Fun Day. Brought to you by Living Stones (Tallahassee, FL), Bridges of America (Orlando, FL), and the City of Tallahassee's Walker Ford Community Center (Tallahassee, FL), neighbors, families, and children had fun getting their faces painted, getting cooled off in the pool, games, and munching lunch. There was so much to explore. Our Volunteer of the Year is Aziz Tayyib, a facilitator for InsideOut Dad curriculum at Wakulla Correctional Institution. Don't forget to join us at Walker Ford Community Center for 2015. We're keep you posted. Enjoy the video! Do comment.

The 2nd Annual Family Fun Day is brought to you by Living Stones International, Bridges of America, and City of Tallahassee'sWalker Ford Community Center. One of the ways to benefit our children of Inmates' Bonding Visits is to support Living Stones' 2nd Annual Family Fun Day brought to you by Living Stones, Bridges of America, and City of Tallahassee's Walker Ford Community Center. Bring the entire family for food, fun, and lots of games. We'll look for you at Walker Ford in the Bond community. Still keep watch on the garden, too in Tallahassee, Florida. There is a surprise in store for those following "How Does Our Garden Grow." The COI Garden is getting closer to planting at the Living Stones' office, Tallahassee, FL. A call out to get children and families ready for planting will be made this week. Can you see how rich the soil is and what the garden will look like once the seeds and plantings sprout and grow. Keep focus on the ground and see what you may guess is growing. It's going to be a masterpiece. Remember if we have an abundance, we will sell some so the Children of Inmates' Program is viable and assisting children to reconnect with their incarcerated parents. Children of Importance are learning how to develop, grow and build a garden.
This journey has been coming together since September 2013. The land was initially cleared, but as a gardener knows, if you don't plant, weeds and grass will come. The pictures above show our beginning stages. Come join Living Stones as we unfold the making of a garden story in the back of our office in Tallahassee, Florida. Working with children and families whose parents are incarcerated at Wakulla and Liberty CI, as well as Gadsden Women's facility, let's see how green our thumbs are. Follow the garden story. When we produce more than Living Stones' children and families may use--we'll have a stand out front to buy and pick up fresh produce. Keep watching for the reveal of "How Our Garden Grows!" Eight bonding visits later escorting children of incarcerated parents into Wakulla Annex and Main Unit, Living Stones celebrates its 1st Anniversary for the program, August 16, 2013. It has been such a pleasure to see the children growing, meeting the challenge of school and FCATS, as well as boding with their incarcerated parent, and now and then getting to have fun. As an aftercare visit, we went to the Tallahassee Museum. Our goal for the children is creating memories, and this was a learning experience for them, too. Even the adults found out that grey foxes reside in trees. That must be how they always get away from the hunters. Although the smallest bonding visit our families participated in, everything went well and the children were able to enjoy their father's company. Of course it's great to see through the lenses of children and the reaction from their fathers and mothers. Seeing the compassion on faces of volunteers and staff is priceless. As the children left in single file--it was an opportunity to feel great about why we do what we do and to receive hugs and thank you's. We expect another successful year for this program. Our intention is to keep you posted as the stats are researched for these visits. Farmshare came to Living Stones' First Annual Family Fun Day. They distributed 16,800 pounds of fresh farm products to over 300 individuals. As you can see volunteers from Living Stones set up the area for distribution to families and children. Individuals were as early as 7:00 am waiting for the truck to enter the area. Additionally, Living Stones fed 650 individuals a free lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drink. Additionally there were games, face painting, balloon art, and vendors. We look forward to making next year's event even bigger and better than this year. Join us as a supporter and volunteer to see the smiling faces of the families and children. Coming soon to the Bond community where lunch is on us, Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Walker Ford Community Center--bouncers, face painting, games, swimming, and more for your enjoyment. Come out and get your free food. Farmshare is bringing their trailer to give away food. Families and children welcomed--see you there for lunch. Want to be a sponsor, click here.
